How Often Must I Forgive?

Forgiveness is not easy.  But it is commanded.  And what is even tougher than forgiving is forgiving a person more than once.  And perhaps this is why, after Jesus spends time teaching that we must work towards reconciliation with others, Peter asks:

“Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?  As many as seven times?” – Matthew 18:21

I’ve asked the same question, just in different ways.  And if I’m honest with myself, the answer I truly want is not “seven,” or “seventy-seven.”
